I must respectfully disagree. For starters we have not yet survived 4 years of Trump, as the present crisis pointedly demonstrates. Secondly, we ought to define “survive,” as the damage Trump has already done to the United States, and the world, is extensive and it is largely by sheer luck that it has not yet been worse. (And may yet be — see point #1 again.) Lastly, it’s by no means proven that Biden’s cognitive state is anywhere as bad as Trump’s, let alone worse, though that is a trope that the GOP — shamelessly — would love to see get traction. I submit that a side by side comparison of their mental acuity, ability to form coherent sentences, speak extemporaneously, distinguish fact from fiction, and so forth would reveal that Mr. Biden is in far better shape than the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Moreover, say what you will about Joe, warts and all, he is not a pathological liar and malignant narcissist, which are also very much forms of mental illness. So given the choice b/w the two men, I think it’s absurd to suggest that we should disqualify Biden while pronouncing Trump AOK and fit to lead.
