Interesting theory. Are you speaking of American democracy from the beginning, or simply of the current moment, and suggesting that the Democratic Party doesn’t really want to stop the GOP? I don’t believe that that is the case….not only as a matter of principle in terms of defending democracy, but even out of simple self-interest. I suspect their failure is more incompetence than complicity. But it’s a provocative thought.
