Shriver’s political views have long been toxic. Like many of her ilk, she profess to be a “double hater," but blithely dismisses all of Trump’s sins—and in fact, obliquely praises him multiple times—while making sneering ad hominem attacks on Harris for everything from her intelligence to her clothing. Many of her comments, such as her argument that the left is just as bad as the right when it comes to political violence, would not be out of place on Tucker Carlson‘s show,—which is to say, they are a farrago of distortions, half-truths, and vile agitprop . To your bigger point: one can certainly find fault with Kamala Harris, but to do so while ignoring the alternative in what is ultimately a binary choice, with sky high stakes, is juvenile and self-destructive. Should we work for a better system and better choices in future? Of course. But only one of these two paths offers even the chance for such a future. Pragmatically speaking, this election is a stark choice between democracy and fascism, full stop. I refer you to this comment from David Sedaris, going all the way back to 2008 and more relevant than ever today: “I think of being on an airplane. The flight attendant comes down the aisle with her food cart and, eventually, parks it beside my seat. ‘Can I interest you in the chicken?’ she asks, “or would you prefer the platter of shit with bits of broken glass in it?’ To be undecided in this election is to pause for a moment and then ask how the chicken is cooked.”
