Thoughtful article, but are you seriously disputing the notion that Russia did in fact interfere with the 2016 election? We can quibble over the definiton of the term “interfere,” and engage in whataboutism over the US’s own history of interfering in foreign elections, but is there any doubt that the Kremlin’s involvement in trying to influence the 2016 campaign went beyond garden variety gamesmanship on the Clausewitzean spectrum of conflict. More to the point, the willingness of one candidate to actively engage and collaborate with those efforts (regardless of whether you think he or his people actually did so, and what effect or non-effect their actions had) is undeniably scandalous—at best—by any measure.
